In the fifth session of the introductory course on web accessibility with WordPress we began to review a set of plugins to improve the accessibility of a website. We have made a selection of those plugins that we consider good options to improve web accessibility. We start with WP Accessibility. It is a multifunction plugin of the most popular and that incorporates the most interesting options. WP Accessibility warns us that by installing it we will not get our website to comply with accessibility standards,it simply helps to solve certain specific accessibility problems. As we can see, a multifunction plugin is one that includes several small tools at the same time for both the WordPress administrator and the visitor to our website. These plugins usually add a toolbox for the web visitor to adjust a series of options regarding the appearance to, theoretically, improve accessibility in a personalized way. A very big advantage of this plugin is that it checks that our theme is reviewed and is accessibility-ready. This way it is easier to choose between the options offered by the plugin and not generate conflict with the theme you are using.It is not a perfect plugin and there are options that may not interest us, but it is the only one that solves a series of real problems that WordPress has. Specifically, one of the most interesting is to be able to show the long description field of the images that we have in the WordPress media library but that by default there is no way to consult it in most WordPress themes.
